    FAQ

    Frequently asked questions.

Everything you might be wondering before we begin.

Contact me! You can message me here (contact form), call or email to set up a free video consultation. The consultation is a time to learn more about one another and answer any of your questions. If we are a good fit, we will look at our calendars and schedule your first session. If it is not a match, I am glad to offer you referrals to other clinicians.

I offer online therapy to clients throughout California. My office is in Berkeley, California.

My availability for sessions is 9am to 6pm, Tuesday through Friday. I reserve Mondays for consultations, educational training, and administrative tasks.

Only if you see me on a hiking trail with my dogs, relaxing at the beach with my family, laughing and playing on the pickleball court, or making that last-minute Target run. Do not worry, if we run into each other I will respect your privacy and let you approach me if you want to say hello. I am always glad to see my clients when our paths cross.

Individual sessions are 50 minutes. Your situation and reason for coming to therapy are unique, and so is the number of sessions tailored to your needs.

My session fee is $230. I offer a sliding scale rate for eligible clients. I am considered an out-of-network provider and have partnered with Mentaya to help you submit out-of-network claims and receive reimbursements.

Mentaya is a service that streamlines getting reimbursed for your therapy sessions through out-of-network benefits.

    Mentaya is perfect if you:

    • Have out-of-network benefits
    • Feel overwhelmed by superbills and insurance
    • Have submitted superbills but failed to get any reimbursement
    • Simply want to skip the hassle of paperwork

    Here is how it works:

    1. Sign up for Mentaya: https://mentaya.co/inviteclient/ApyOZMKdHni3UHe9AVOD
    2. Our practice will enter your sessions into the platform.
    3. Mentaya submits the claim and handles any insurance follow-up.
    4. You get reimbursed by insurance.

Mentaya charges a 5% fee per claim, which includes handling any paperwork required, dealing with denials, and calling insurance companies. It is risk free: they guarantee claims are successfully submitted, or a full refund of their fees.

I process payments through Stripe within my secure Simple Practice client portal. You can use any major credit card, HSA card, FSA card, or debit card. You can also enroll in automatic payments and store your card on file so you do not have to enter it after every session.

I appreciate at least 48 hours notice for cancellations whenever possible. This allows me to offer that time to another client who may need it. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice may be subject to a full session fee. If you miss a session, I will reach out to make sure you are okay and to offer to reschedule if I have availability.

Not at all. I welcome adults of every gender identity, and I offer LGBTQ+ and BIPOC clients a safe and affirming space. Everyone is welcome here.

Spiritually, the sand dollar represents choosing your own path, strength, flexibility, and freedom. Plus I just love walking along the beach and stumbling upon one. What a beautiful gift from the ocean.

Your beloved pets are more than welcome to join our sessions. That is one of the great perks of online therapy. You may even catch a distant snore from one of my three rescue pups, Stella, Lizzie, and Piper.

According to California law, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your care will cost. Under the law, health care providers must give patients who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for services. You have the right to receive this estimate in writing at least one business day before your service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. For more information visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
