# Frequently asked questions. Frequently asked questions.

Everything you might be wondering before we begin.

### How do I begin?

Contact me! You can message me here ([contact form](/begin-here)), call or email to set up a free video consultation. The consultation is a time to learn more about one another and answer any of your questions. If we are a good fit, we will look at our calendars and schedule your first session. If it is not a match, I am glad to offer you referrals to other clinicians.

### Where are you located?

I offer online therapy to clients throughout California. My office is in Berkeley, California.

### What are your hours?

My availability for sessions is 9am to 6pm, Tuesday through Friday. I reserve Mondays for consultations, educational training, and administrative tasks.

### Do you see clients on the weekend?

Only if you see me on a hiking trail with my dogs, relaxing at the beach with my family, laughing and playing on the pickleball court, or making that last-minute Target run. Do not worry, if we run into each other I will respect your privacy and let you approach me if you want to say hello. I am always glad to see my clients when our paths cross.

### How long are sessions and how often do we meet?

Individual sessions are 50 minutes. Your situation and reason for coming to therapy are unique, and so is the number of sessions tailored to your needs.

### What are your fees and do you accept insurance?

My session fee is $230. I offer a sliding scale rate for eligible clients. I am considered an out-of-network provider and have partnered with [Mentaya](https://mentaya.co/inviteclient/ApyOZMKdHni3UHe9AVOD) to help you submit out-of-network claims and receive reimbursements.

Mentaya is a service that streamlines getting reimbursed for your therapy sessions through out-of-network benefits.

Mentaya is perfect if you:

- Have out-of-network benefits
- Feel overwhelmed by superbills and insurance
- Have submitted superbills but failed to get any reimbursement
- Simply want to skip the hassle of paperwork

Here is how it works:

1. Sign up for Mentaya: [https://mentaya.co/inviteclient/ApyOZMKdHni3UHe9AVOD](https://mentaya.co/inviteclient/ApyOZMKdHni3UHe9AVOD)
2. Our practice will enter your sessions into the platform.
3. Mentaya submits the claim and handles any insurance follow-up.
4. You get reimbursed by insurance.

Mentaya charges a 5% fee per claim, which includes handling any paperwork required, dealing with denials, and calling insurance companies. It is risk free: they guarantee claims are successfully submitted, or a full refund of their fees.

### How do you take payment?

I process payments through Stripe within my secure Simple Practice client portal. You can use any major credit card, HSA card, FSA card, or debit card. You can also enroll in automatic payments and store your card on file so you do not have to enter it after every session.

### What is your cancellation policy?

I appreciate at least 48 hours notice for cancellations whenever possible. This allows me to offer that time to another client who may need it. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice may be subject to a full session fee. If you miss a session, I will reach out to make sure you are okay and to offer to reschedule if I have availability.

### Do you only see women?

Not at all. I welcome adults of every gender identity, and I offer LGBTQ+ and BIPOC clients a safe and affirming space. Everyone is welcome here.

### What are your credentials?

LCSW - Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of California. MSW - Master of Social Work from Tulane University, clinical focus. MPH - Master of Public Health from Tulane University, maternal and child health focus. BA - Bachelor of Arts from the University of Vermont, psychology major.

I am a lifelong learner and constantly developing my craft. My primary modalities include Psychodynamic Therapy, Developmental Psychology, Depth Psychology, Holistic Psychotherapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

### What does the sand dollar logo represent?

Spiritually, the sand dollar represents choosing your own path, strength, flexibility, and freedom. Plus I just love walking along the beach and stumbling upon one. What a beautiful gift from the ocean.

### Are pets allowed in sessions?

Your beloved pets are more than welcome to join our sessions. That is one of the great perks of online therapy. You may even catch a distant snore from one of my three rescue pups, Stella, Lizzie, and Piper.

### What do I need to know about Good Faith Estimates?

According to California law, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your care will cost.
